2017 - A YEAR IN REVIEW
2017 - WHAT A YEAR IT HAS BEEN. AS ANOTHER YEAR QUICKLY COMES TO AN END AND A NEW ONE BEGINS, WE TAKE THIS TIME TO REFLECT, TO CELEBRATE THE MEMORABLE MOMENTS, BUT ALSO A NEW BEGINNING, TO REMEMBER THE SUCCESS, THE FAILURES AND THE GROWTH. THIS WAS A YEAR OF CHANGE, OPENING MYSELF UP TO GREAT ADVENTURES AND STEPPING OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE. 2017 WAS A YEAR I LEARNED A LOT ABOUT MYSELF AND I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR THE WONDERFUL PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN BY MY SIDE ALONG THE WAY. I WOULDN'T HAVE CHANGED ANY MOMENT ALONG THIS JOURNEY. HERE'S TO ANOTHER YEAR OF DOING WHAT YOU LOVE, CHASING YOUR DREAMS, TRAVELING THE WORLD AND EMBRACING WHAT WILL BE. HERE'STO 2018!
I'VE GATHERED SOME OF MY FAVORITE MOMENTS THROUGHOUT EACH MONTH AND HIGHLIGHT THE BEST OF 2017. I HOPE YOU ENJOY!
JANUARY
I started the year off by venturing to one of my favorite places, the Oregon coast. The weather was sunny and brisk and I couldn't have been happier. I went from the sunny coast to exploring frozen waterfalls in the heart of Mt. Hood National Forest. My friend and I took a spontaneous trip down the 101 to explore the beautiful sights of Samuel H. Boardman State Park and the Redwood Forest in California. I ended this wintery month by taking a trip to soak in natural hot springs in the middle of the Umpqua National Forest. Needless to say, 2017 was off to a great start.
FEBRUARY
February was a month filled with more coastal adventures. A couple of friends and I went camping at Cape Lookout over the weekend and then ventured off to Pacific City to see the classic beachy cabins and the iconic views of Cape Kiwanda. This was the month I took my first of many solo trips. Traveling to the coast has always been a safe and comfortable destination for me, so I knew it would be the perfect getaway for my first adventure alone. Taking this trip definitely changed my perspective on seizing moments of gratitude and embracing the adventures I get to share with others.
MARCH
March was an exciting month. I got to take one of the most memorable trips to San Francisco with some of the greatest people. We got to wander around the beautiful and eclectic city, travel through the Redwood forest, explore the breathtaking views of Yosemite National Park, visit Point Reyes and the Shipwreck and see the sights of the California coast from the Santa Monica Pier to Shark Fin Cove in Santa Cruz. It was a trip I will never forget and definitely one of my favorite highlights of 2017.
APRIL
April was a fun month exploring some of my favorite waterfalls, snowshoeing around Crater Lake on Earth Day, running around Tulip Fields and embracing the sunny Spring weather.
MAY
The month of May consisted of sunrise hikes up to Spencer's Butte, returning to soak at one of my favorite hot springs and having my friends meet me at Clear Lake for a spontaneous photoshoot on my back from a weekend in Bend.
JUNE
In June I ended my third year of college, so I started the summer off by taking a trip to Olympic National Park. ONP is one of my personal favorite places in Washington. Along the trip we stopped by the Olympic Game Farm, Lake Crescent and the Ranger Station, La Push Beach and wandered through the Hoh Rain Forest. I spent the rest of the month by taking a trip to Oswald West State Park with some friends and enjoying the gorgeous views and sunsets in the Columbia Gorge.
JULY
July was a month spent camping in Bend, Oregon enjoying sunsets with new friends and exploring new places like the Skylight Caves.
AUGUST
August was a month exploring new and old places. I took a major step and ventured out of the west coast where I've lived my whole life to travel off to Montana. This trip was one of my favorites of the year, I couldn't get enough of the endless mountains and gorgeous landscapes of the state. We got to take a trip to Glacier National Park (by far one of my favorite destinations that I'm already itching to go back to) and drive along the Going-on-the-Sun-Road to see the breathtaking views from the highest elevation. After my Montana trip, I went on a solo hike in the Gorge and went to a new waterfall in Washington. Before summer came to a close, I had a beach day with my parents and wandered around my favorite city of Portland.
SEPTEMBER
Before I began my senior year in college, I took one last trip to the coast with my lovely friend where we wandered around the beach, embraced our salty, windy hair and enjoyed the last fleeting moments of summer.
OCTOBER
October was probably one of my most beloved months of the year, Fall was in full swing and I loved every moment of it. I went to my favorite waterfalls in the McKenzie river area, took advantage of the countless changing leaves, went apple picking and ventured off to the pumpkin patch, it was a month filled with fall festivities that I couldn't get enough of.
NOVEMBER
November - the month I turned 22. It wasn't a month filled with much photography, but it was a month filled with a lot of self-love, reflecting on the kind of person I am and the person that I am striving to become and feeling grateful for all of the wonderful people I am surrounded by in my life.
DECEMBER
I ended off the year by traveling out of the country for the first time and taking a spontaneous trip up to Vancouver B.C in Canada. I loved wandering through the sights of the city, walking across the suspension bridges and exploring the Canadian coast. I'm already looking forward to making another trip up North again soon. Once I got back from my trip, I explored some waterfalls and adventured up to the mountain to snowshoe to a frozen lake and see some of the most adorable cabins covered in snow. It was a perfect month full of adventure to end the year.
Thank you all so much for reading along and seeing some of my favorite moments of the year. I can't wait to see what's in store for 2018.
